Diphtheria

Diphtheria is bacterial disease spread through close contact with discharge from an infected person’s nose, throat, skin, eyes and skin. It is extremely rare in the United States, but is most common where people live in crowded conditions and among unimmunized chlidren or adults. Symptoms may begin to appear two to four days after infection, and can last from one to ten days.
