Meningococcal Disease
Meningococcal disease is a bacterial infection that infects the blood, the brain and spinal cord. Though relatively rare, it is more common in infants, children and young adults. It can be spread by contact with mucus or droplets from the nose and throat of an infected person. The most common symptoms include high fever, tiredness, and a rash. Changes in behavior such as confusion, sleepiness, and being hard to wake up are important symptoms.
