Relapsing Fever

Relapsing fever is bacterial infection that can cause recurring bouts of fever, headache, muscle and joint aches, and nausea. Infection can be treated with antibiotics.

Most cases occur in summer months and are associated in the more mountainous regions of the Western United States. Avoid tick-infested areas to limit tick bites, avoid any rodent-infested buildings, wear protective clothing when outdoors and use insect repellent such as DEET to protect yourself.
