Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci (VRE)
Enterococci are bacteria that are normally present in the intestines and are often found in soil and water. Vancomycin-resistanct Enterococci (VRE) have developed a resistance to most antibiotics commonly used to treat intestinal infections.
